米YouTubeは、かねてから噂されていた広告非表示の有料定額制「YouTube Red」をまずは米国内で10月28日より提供開始すると発表しました。料金は月額$9.99。
※日本から該当URLへアクセスすると対応していない旨の画面が出ます。米国外の他地域でも提供に向けて準備中とのこと。
有料版サービスとしては、広告が表示されなくなるほか、ダウンロードしたコンテンツを最大30日間視聴できる「オフライン再生」が可能に。そして、楽曲BGM再生として便利な、YouTubeコンテンツのバックグラウンド再生する機能も利用できるようになるそうです。

- Ad-free videos: Watch videos without interruptions whenever you sign in to your account on youtube.com or the YouTube app on your mobile device or compatible Smart TV/Gaming Console.
- Save offline: Save videos and playlists from the YouTube mobile app to watch offline when you aren’t connected to the internet.
- Background play: Continue playing videos on your mobile device while using other apps or when your screen is off.
Free Google Play Music subscription: Included at no additional cost.
なお、先日スタートした「Google Play Music」(月額$9.99)に申し込んでいれば、YouTube Redの全機能をそのまま利用でき、逆に「YouTube Red」に申し込んでいるとGoogle Play Musicも利用できるという、ちょっと不思議な会員制度になっているようで、統合されるかなど詳細は不明。
日本など米国外でも同一扱いしてくれるか、料金も同じかも現状では不明のため、続報待ちですぬ(´・ω・｀)
